The hardest 10 seconds in life.

You have the purple alligator pinned down, as you look for your keys in the note book you used in third grade. This is your one chance at stardom. Then, out of nowhere, you hear church bells. Church bells? Now, that doesn’t make sense!! You look up to find out where they are coming from and suddenly everything goes dark and disappears…..

What happens next, are the hardest 10 seconds in life…….

What reappears when you look again is your bedroom. You found the source of the bells! Your body is heavy, your head is cloudy and you don’t feel very much like moving. It’s 4:43 am. The alarm clock is persistent about ringing until you take action. Everything about you tells you to hit the snooze button. There is that one tiny thing (for lack of a better term) inside of you that tells you to stop the alarm and get up, to lift your body and put your feet squarely on the floor, to stand and take on the world, knowing you will feel much better for doing it. The urge to disregard that one tiny thing (which is now a coined term for it by the way) is so great, it’s practically overwhelming. Your head is now heavier than it’s ever been, coherent sentences could not be heard coming out of your mouth (curse words however are a different story), and it’s sooooo comfortable where you are. Why would you disrupt that?!

You think to yourself, you have something to do today. You made the decision to do it, and mister (misses) lazy bones can’t stop it. Soon, you are sitting up, or are you? Your feet hit the floor or your head hits the pillow. Not only are these the hardest 10 seconds, they are also the longest.
