amazing

Something truly amazing happened this morning. I’ve lost a few pounds in the last few weeks because of the amount of exercise I was doing. I eat a lot, but expend a lot of energy. My belt has been able to reach the next tighter hole, my shrunken (because they were put in a dryer) shirts no longer look tight and I’m glad I have a pull string that I can tie on my bathing suit or I’d be kicked out of the community center. I’m trimming down, though not entirely on purpose

But here comes the amazing part…. As I was running today, I actually GAINED 5 lbs! Now that seems impossible, doesn’t it? It actually happened. I went through my normal swimming routine, got on the stationary bike, then went outside to run. I had my moisture wicking long sleeve tee and jogging pants on and started my 1.5 mile run slowly. It was raining, but not too heavily. After my first of 5 laps, the rain came down more heavily. My second lap had puddles to navigate around. The third lap, I just ran right through the puddles. My feet were already wet, so what difference does it make, I thought. My clothes were clinging to my body and my very confused moisture wicking long sleeve tee just got heavier. The fourth lap, I looked like a drowned rat. But my fifth lap…. I became as wet as I could possibly get. I guess that’s what they mean about gaining water weight.

All right, eventually I lost those extra five pounds, but it was so much fun running around like I was a kid again not caring if or how much I got wet. What’s a little water going to do? After all I was just in the pool for an hour, what’s the difference?
