Somehow I believed I could

After rolling around for a better part of the night, body tingling from yesterday’s ride, I believed I could still get up today and run. Impossible yelled my quads! Are you nuts screamed my calves! But those body parts didn’t discourage me, I still believed I could. Seven AM rolled around and I got out of bed (come on, it’s the weekend I can sleep in). My shorts went on slowly, my wet (from yesterday’s ride) sneakers even slower, yet I still believed I could do it.

It was misting outside and the ground was wet from last night’s storm. As soon as the door opened, and my feet hit the pavement, it was time to go. After walking two blocks to warm up my legs, I started the run an easy way, downhill. Half of a mile later when I got to the trail, I could hardly see. I had to run like I was wearing bifocals because the mist was so fine, it kept wetting my glasses.

After my first mile (which is my usual hurdle), the next two seemed easy. Even running up the long 1/2 mile hill to get home. I’m so glad that I believed I could run after yesterday’s ride. I feel so much better getting out.
