First 25

I just rode a bike 25 miles! So what, right? Well, that’s the longest I’ve ever gone on a bike, at one time, in my life (except maybe when I delivered newspapers as a kid, that seemed like 100 miles (it really wasn’t that far, it was just around the block)). Is that an accomplishment to be proud of? Well I am. Just as my first 50 mile day and first 100 mile day will be as well.

That made me think about how I feel when I do something physically demanding and still feel energized immediately afterward. I somehow feel like I can accomplish anything! I start projecting how much further I could go with ease, and how I could set records with my amazing abilities. That’s just the opposite of a day when I can hardly move and I think to myself that I’ll never have the endurance needed to complete the race. Knowing myself, I’ve been consciously holding myself back from overdoing it so I can have more of the unstoppable feeling and less of the undesirable feeling.

As I get ready for bed, I’m proud of my first 25 mile day on the bike. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
