To which I responded… Don’t tempt me.

Taking a break from the water for a day, I decided to check out the gym equipment. I really wanted to get on a stationary bike to get to know the sensation of pedaling. Over the next 8 months I think I’ll be doing a lot of it, so I might as well get started. These bikes have come a long way and have TV’s built in. I don’t have a TV at home, so that was …..treat? I probably looked like I was in my own world, like a bum looking for a cigarette, so one of the staff asked if I needed help. I asked her about these new fangled exercise bikes. It turns out, they’re pretty self explanatory. But after a quick tutorial, obvious to her it was my first day, she said ” if you are really ambitious, we have a spin class at 6:30!”

I actually thought of the ramifications of overdoing it and how I would feel the next few days afterward and I passed on the opportunity. Thank goodness I did! I pedaled on the stationary bike for an hour at a slow (15 mph) pace. When I got off and was walking toward the door, it still felt like my legs were pedaling. The cycling class was still going on in the adjoining room and I could hear the instructor barking commands. As I walked out, I was glad I wasn’t tempted.
