we hold these truths to be self-evident

Today I felt alive when I was jogging. It was just starting to get a little hot around 7:30 am when I started. I purposely left my tunes at home, the race in November doesn’t allow headphones, so I figured I might as well (minus well) start practicing without them. The best part was I didn’t miss the distraction at all. My mantra for today was “I can do this all day’, and when I thought about it, I knew at some point I was going to have to do it all day.

I love the freedom of being able to walk out my door and go any direction I want to. Today’s chosen path was by the river. I had the ability to go as fast or slow as I wanted to with no one dictating my exertion. How great is it know, that tomorrow I can do the same thing.

The best part of the day was that I was doing something that makes me happy. It seems a little screwy that I enjoy getting up at the crack of dawn to go swimming, running or riding around town like a crazy man. It’s hot and will be for another month or so, but sweating makes me feel like I’m doing something good for me.

Today was about life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It may be a week after July 4, but I was on vacation.
