Lance Legstrong

It’s supposed to be 65 degrees on Friday! I’m definitely going to go for a run. When we get the first signs of spring, we get motivated and want to be outside and run for hours. The fact that I’ve only run 7 miles in the last month, on  only two occasions, will put a limit on the time/distance I’m going to go for. If I try to push myself (even if I feel good), I will regret it. I have to do opposite of what a trainer in a gym that is assigned to you on your first day of membership would do. There is no reason to push myself just because it’s nice out. I have no base to stand (run) on.

Last night, anticipating running on Friday, I did a leg workout without weights (since I don’t have any). My legs are feeling stronger and I can do more reps without shaking or feeling that burning sensation. Having strong legs that support my knees from the pounding of the pavement is a must. I also anticipate that as the weather gets warmer, I’ll be doing less of a leg workout and more of a running, swimming, and biking workout which is why I want to get as much of it in now as I can.

If you see me today and I’m walking with wobbly legs, don’t point and laugh like you usually do, I did it on purpose. I hope by June (which will be here fast), my legs will be strong enough to run, bike or swim on a daily basis, because I’ll have strong legs. But it isn’t going to happen by Friday.
